Moving Along into Spring….

holly..mary..natasha....julie

Here are my friends that came every week for a couple of months to our book club. This was our last night. Remember I told you I made them each their own pincushions with names embroidered on them and I would show you? Well I only got a photo of one! Yikes…that’s the story of my life lately. We had a wonderful meal first. I made spaghetti and meatballs and one of the girls brought salad, and another bread with herbal dipping oil, another refreshments, and another a carrot cake from Trader Joes to die for!! We all had a tiny sliver of that for sure. Here are their bags I had ready for them….droptherockgifts1I made little tags and tied them on with embroidery thread.droptherockgifts2 One of the Mary’s couldn’t make it so I snapped a photo of her pincushion before she came after it and that was the only one I got!MaryB'sgift2

MaryB'sgift3Here last name has the word feather in it…..that’s why the feather was stuck in there. Here favorite colors were hot pink and gold….not the greatest job but she loved it.

And then…much to my surprise, my friend Natasha, on behalf of all the women, made me an awesome gift and presented it to me!! She is just starting to work with stained glass, creating some beautiful pieces already. She had asked me a while back what my favorite colors were and I told her purples and greens. So….with that in mind, she made me this….mygift1

mygift2Isn’t it gorgeous??? My heart was full that day…………..

It hangs in that very window behind it in the above photo and looks AWESOME!!

Lotsa lovely gifts going around! How come you stopped having your get togethers? It sounded like such fun to me but with such busy times I can see where every week might get to be too much. Maybe once a month and take turns at the other houses would work, just a thought.

Jean...That's exactly why...summer is a busy time for us all. We plan on another one in the fall and it may be at someone else's house. It was such a lot of fun. Last night I got a call from one of the girls just saying she already missed coming!!:) How are you doing?

Hi Debbie,

I belong to 3 Book Clubs - one is a Facebook friends one so that really is just a club where we read and review ...

The other two meet once a month - but we always meet in a pub, after work. We have extra get-togethers at Christmas and sometimes meet together for a trip to the theatre but never in each others homes. I think we Brits are less inclined to gather in each others homes ... not sure why that is! And we are not as generous as Americans about gift giving.

Hi Debbie...the pincushion is gorgeous! I just love it! What kind of material did you use, maybe fleece? The stain glass is beautiful, too. Your friends must be very special :)
Enjoy your week...Dawn

Jane...That sounds like fun! I don't know where you find the time to read so many books but good for you. Not everyone is generous around here...trust me! It's my nature to do things for others. I have been like that since I was a kid I think. My friend Natasha just happened to be the one who suggested having the group so maybe she felt obligated? She is very sweet though anyway. My roots on my fathers mom's side are English....Coffin and Corliss. Are those common names over there?

Dawn...Thanks so much for your comment! I think they look amateurish but I sure do appreciate you saying that! That one is made of fleece and some cotton material. The others were just a little fleece and mostly these wonderful materials I got at Mardens lately. They have a ton of material marked way down...I grabbed some cool batik material. Glad you liked the stain glass!
