Hey are any of you sick of this heat yet? I know there are a few of you that just adore this weather!
That is very foreign to me. I absolutely hate it. My favorite time of year is the fall. It’s when I come alive.
I can barely get to my garden without passing out. Of course it is suffering because of it. It has strange
looking bugs and some of my plants have damage from the bugs. It has been an unusual year for heat in Maine
That being said, bring on FALL!!! I am ready.~~~
My brother Art and sister in law Amy are headed home from Nashville on the 7th of August. One of the
things that we have planned together is to do a tribute to my parents on a radio station in our home town
of Yarmouth. The radio station is owned by a family friend. His name is Gary King. My father used to give him
banjo lessons. Gary plays a mean banjo amongst many other instruments and has an absolute love for old music.
Here’s a link to his website…..WYAR . Of course the YAR stands for Yarmouth….but you already figured that out!
We have a little intro regarding my folks and my brother will sing a couple of wonderful old songs my folks used to do.
My mothers specialties were Five Foot Two and Bill Bailey. That’s probably what we’ll sing. We also have a recording of
them from years ago. Should be fun.
I have harvested some beautiful gold zucchini and regular green already. That gold zucchini is soooooo bright yellow!!
I will get some photos of it. My spaghetti squash is coming along great. I planted everything too close I guess this year.
Hard to get to but plenty of produce! First year without tomatoes…never got to it. I don’t miss the tomato hornworm!
Just look at how disgusting that bug is……. Nope…not missed a bit.
This is my new problem. I just looked it up
on Google for the first time….now I know what I am dealing with…..the squash bug…..more on that when I figure out how to deal with them!!!
Stay cool everyone!!! ~~~~

Much as dislike the intense heat, I hate to rush fall because of what follows!
I also love fall and HATE it being this darn hot and dry. I have spent most days moving and tugging on the water hose in order to keep things happy in the garden. With that being said, I am like Eva in that I hate what follows fall. Would it not be great if we had spring and fall all year long?
I will check out the link and hopefully will find the station (unless it is also streamed online)
so I can listen to the tribute. Hope you will let us know when it will be on. What a great thing to do. Kudos to you and your family for doing it.
Jean...it will be on August 9th at 1:30 in the afternoon as far as I know right now. We can't get it in Gray and I don't know about streaming online but I will find that out too. Good questions! Oh and yes...yes....YES!!...I agree we should have spring and fall all year!...well mostly fall! Thanks for coming by.
HI Debbie! There you are and I don't know what's up that you can't get to my blog! But I'm glad you did.
Sounds like your event will be wonderful and I love those old songs too!
It's hot here too with about 100% humidity! :) Well, I guess I'm stretching it a bit.
I've never seen gold zucchini! Hot those tomato worms. They look like they're straight from hell! :)
Be a sweetie and hope you're doing well,
Shelia ;)
Hi Debbie, never saw white zucchini. Does it taste the same? Hate those nasty tom worms. I had a few here, just picked off & squished.
Hi Debbie,
I didn't have to ask Birdman about Erebus. I know the answer. My all time favorite Lambskin coat was from there! Loved the place.
The building is still there, offices I think. It's on Center St directly across from Brian Boru's. A parking lot to the right of it. Tall brick building. Those were the days.
Did you ever go on Google Maps Street View? You can actually 'drive' down streets and see what's there. You just click a little oval icon up ahead on the road and it 'drives' you there. You can turn left and right or all the way around. I just did that to eyeball the Erebus building.
Hate sqaush bugs and tomato monsters.
Oh thank you Elenka!! I will do that right now!! How cool!
Hi Debbie, just checking in to see if all is well.
Miss you girl.
Hi Lola!! Thanks for stopping by. I am going to write soon....just busy. Hope all is well with you?
Hey Debbie girl. Hope all is ok. Just popped in to speak. Still hot here but have started to do some Fall planting. Sure hope it does well.
