This And Tat…….

No that’s not a mistake in my spelling, although I do that quite often! My daughter Carissa calls me this morning.DSC04210 She says….. “Guess what I did mom!! I got a new tattoo!! And guess what it is!!??” I try to guess….. “A guitar…a banjo….another insect….(she already has a dragonfly on her shoulder)….someone’s name?”  “Oh my God!!”….she says….. “ I would NEVER have someone’s name tattooed on me!!” So…what is it Carissa?? “Well Mom….do you remember that song you used to sing and play on your guitar when we were young named What Do You Do With A Drunken Sailor?”  “Yes I do Carissa.”  “Well I really dig old stuff and in the style of Joe ??? a tattoo artist friend of mine, I got an anchor with a flower and a bottle of corked wine. I downloaded the actual notes from the first line of that song, and sketched it out with what i wanted for my tattoo. I’ll send you an email with a picture of it.”  Here’s the picture I got this afternoon from her……..Carissa tat It’s on her side and boy doesn’t that look sore! She had been to the beach the day before and had a sunburn on the OTHER side thank goodness. I guess she sat for three grueling hours and then went right to work without any down time! I used to sing all the versions of that song to the kids when they were little….they loved it. Their favorite lines were “Put Him In The Scuppers With A Hose Pipe On Him” and “Shave His Belly With A Rusty Razor”. We had a lot of fun with that song and apparently they did too!  I have NEVER had a tattoo, although I have always wanted one. Maybe I will get one. We’ll see. Do you have any tattoo’s? Let’s see them!! My son has two tribal tats and my husband has a double headed eagle on his arm. It seems to be the thing to do for young people today. The only thing is….once you get one….you are pretty much stuck with it! She got a really good deal on this one because the guy was an apprentice. You only have to tip him. Tattoo’s are quite expensive! My son got a good deal on his two combined for 175.00…..so he tells me. Generally that is what it would have been for each of them. I have a photo of each of them but the photos are not very good.Kyle & Sarah (4) Kyle & Sarah (3) I don’t like either one of these….especially the skull and bones one at the top. Oh well….I don’t have to sport them now do I!!!!

I dislike tattoos and would never get one, plus there are so many other things I'd rather do with that much money!

Aw, How nice of Carissa. You affected her with the song, your honored. Better than the letters M-O-M!
My son wants the one his father has, my husband drew it and sold it for the cost of doing it on his arm. It;s a lady viking. I kinda don't get it although I'd like one over my scar from my leg rod. They are not made for that though. Sigh.
I'm ok, I haven't been very social lately, I'll come out of it in a week or so. Thanks for thinking of me.

I will probally go against the grain by saying that I like it..I really do...I like that it has meaning to your daughter. Tattoos don't bother me...I have a butterfly and also a cross...I would really like to get another one...can't decide on which one though. :) For most people the tattoos they get have meaning to them. If you want to get one, you should, but only because you really want...what would you get and where? Such decisions. :)

You're right - most young people love tattoos. I, on the other hand, have no desire for one. I just don't like the look and as I get older I can only imagine how a tat might look on sagging skin!! I think when kids are young they don't think about that but they will someday!

HI Debbie! All I can say is 'ouch'! I would never get a tattoo but know lots of folks like them! My son in law had one on his shoulder and after he and my daughter got married he wanted to get it removed. Well, he did but said it was horribly painful and expensive! :)
Oh, to be young again! :)
Thanks for popping in to see me.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

Our Heather has tats - It started when of age and not requiring mother's permission ... It's in honor of her father who died when she was just 11 years old! She designed that one and the ones on her left and right sides of her body from under her arms to her thighs also one on her foot. She and Carissa are so talented in so many ways: Fashion designing, music and lyrics composition, unique craft-creations, jewelry ...Beautiful girls; beautiful souls ... GeeGee

I am so glad you pointed out which part of her body that was, because truth be told, I couldn't figure it out at all til you told us.
I have a tiny fantasy to get a tiny heart tatoo somwhere someday. Probably never happen because I am also a wimp....and cheap.

Now that is really sweet...because her tattoo has meaning...wonderful memories too!! Awesome! I actually have two tattoos. One around my ankle (a peacock walking around my ankle) and a fleur-de-lis right at my bikini line. NOW YOU KNOW! Lol! I'm still a good girl though. You should get one!

i have tats. i got mine so lone ago that there was only on tattoo parlor in this whole city. now there is one on every corner. my daughter got a small feather tattooed on her stomach and was a bit nervous so i went with her and i got a scottish thistle tattoed on the top of my foot. she then got one of her initials inked on her wrist. i have 7 and wouldn't mind having some redesigned because they fade as you get older. the blog tech is smart. he has never gotten one which really makes him stand out in his age group.it's funny because i was the only one i knew with tats when i was younger and he is the only one he knows without any.
