Under Construction…..

                        image

Hey everyone….I just wanted to say so long for now and I will be back in about a month. We are in the process of re-doing our tiny little living/computer room. Our little living room used to be a bedroom years ago. The “bedroom” closet has been used for storage for many things over the years like vacuum cleaners, bags of dog and cat food, winter coats, books, notebooks of photos and Christmas wrapping paper! A kind of catch all I guess. Today, we got rid of all of that and found new homes for some items and threw out the rest. We have a big charge of stuff for the dump! It’s amazing what you can find when you start cleaning out closets! In my living room is a very old couch, an overstuffed OLDER chair, an AGED and decrepit hassock, original 1983 rust colored carpet and plain white walls. Tomorrow, our friend David will be cutting our closet out and it will be wider and taller. It will be our new media center. He will frame it out and sheetrock it. When it is all said and done, the carpet will be torn out and a new floor will go in. The entire room will be painted. We’ll have a new couch and chair and ottoman, new blinds and curtains (never had curtains in here!) We’ll have a new flat screen tv (eventually) and an updated stand for it, along with a dvd player (we have the old vcr!) and surround sound. Also we are getting a new computer table to go kitty corner in our room. New lighting on the ceiling and new lamps will have to be a part of it all. My husband ripped out our old beaten up ceiling fan that was rocking every time it got turned on today! Yes!!  And….last but not least, hubby says he HAS to have a new xbox 360 too!! Of course! So….I will take pictures throughout the whole process and show you all what took place! Until then, our computer will be gone from this room and I will be using a laptop (probably) so I will certainly visit you all!! We have many computers but they are all upstairs in my husband (The Computer Mechanics room!) That’s ok…..a laptop is very easy to set up in my dining room. Have a great August and be safe. I will miss writing in this blog but if we get done quickly, I’ll be backkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk!! And I will have to update you not only on this but on Port Hole 2009 too. Oh God…..I better get started on that laptop~~~~~:):):)

Oh Debbie dear, good luck with the new room, it took us four years to build this house and everyone kept saying....if you can make it thru construction you can make it thru anything. We will all be here when you get back to posting, take before and after pics, and ps....don't watch those make-over shows! they make it look easy and it actually made me mad!!!!!Grrrrr, it doesn't go that smoothly! a continual bump in the road it is...

Oh Debbie, I will miss you terribly! But, go on and get all that work done, so you will have a nifty new place to sit and blog, chill and hang-out. I know you can get through this. If you have a chance drop me an email, or come on over to my blog and say hi. Best of luck, girlfriend...and watch out for those insects. Big hugs, and smiles, Kathleen

Hey, Debbie, I do my blog on my laptop OR my PC. No prob.
Good luck with all the work....sounds wonderful. As much as a pain it is, it will be worth it. We are looking for a new couch and loveseat. Slip picking for furniture stores around here. If you don't mind my asking, where did you buy your furniture??

Yo, my friend ... Your living room is going to look beautiful! And, comfortable! And, so much more roomier!
And, a warm and cozy sheltered port when winter's snowstorms hell-a-whoops across the blueberry fields ... Ahh, Home sweet home!

Dawn: Thanks for checking in my friend! We have the closet cut out and today will be the sheetrocking and tearing out the carpet. We have a long ways to go. I still hate this laptop but have figured out I am moving my hand over the mouse (built in to the laptop) and that is causing my problems. I am using a wireless mouse. Can you tell I hate change! I am so glad I checked in to your site on your birthday! Hope it was a good one! I am taking pictures the whole way through. My latest heartache is deer wiping out my garden!! Any suggestions from you Mainers would be great! Thanks and see you all soon with updates.

Kathleen: You are so sweet! I already miss you guys too. I will check in soon. The construction will be slow but is underway. When I come back I won't know where to begin! Hope your shop is doing well and you and hubby are well too. Thanks for your kind words my friend.

Elenka: Hi Elenka! Thanks for stopping by! You are right about the "slip pickings" here for furniture...ha ha...that was so cute! We have not found a place yet that caters to our budget...at least online. When we get to the point where we go out and look, it will be probably The Barn in Lewiston and Marden's in that area as well, and whatever deals we can find. Places like Gobeils and big furniture stores are just too expensive! I'll let you know! Thanks for checking in...I still am not crazy about this laptop! I just went to press the exclamation button and it jumped me to the top of my page! Arggggggg!

FSOF: Hey girl...I'm with you...I have trouble with all of it....colors...the right design...if I had the money I would hire a design person to do it all! But!! That's not happening. Thanks for stopping in. I will come over to your blog this weekend and check in with you too!

GeeGee: Well hello love!! Can't wait to spend time with you at the Port Hole 2009 Saturday!! I'll be ready for it after this week of craziness! Love ya!

I would say that I love home projects but the truth is that I hate them because we ARE ALWAYS IN THE MIDDLE OF ONE! Can't wait to see your end results.

Hi Debbie, well we almost got to the Port Hole on your big night. I had my husband convinced about 90 percent to go the day before, but on that day his 'get up and go' got up and went. I didn't want to go alone.
I hope you guys had a great time. I'm sure you'll have some pics soon!

Smart Mouth: Oh I totally agree with you! I am already sick of it and we came across a couple of snags to set us back..of course!! My house is upside down right now and the dust is increasing!
Sheila:...Hello sweet lady...it will probably be longer than a month by the time we are done! We have a friend who is doing it in between his regular job so it takes time. I hate waiting but I am acquiring patience I did not know I had....some days!
Elenka: OH!! I wish you had come!!!! You would have loved it!! We had a blast! It only lasted from 8:00 to 11:30 becasue the restaurant wanted to have an early night but it was great. Pictures soon...

HI Debbie! I Miss You!! Hopefully all will be finished soon and you can get back to your normal life. Is life ever normal? Mine's sure isn't! :)
Be a sweetie and I do appreciate you taking time out of your business to come see me,

Sheila: Hello my friend! Thanks for popping in twice!! I feel honored! We are sooo busy I have not been able to get to very many blogs. Our walls and windows are primed, the closet is getting close to being done, we paint this weekend, the bamboo floor goes in on Monday, then the painted new baseboards, then the new overhead light fixture (have to pick out still!) and the new fixture in closet, then the furniture gets delivered...couch, loveseat and reclining chair, and probably many things I have forgotten! Meanwhile, we are very busy with work...both computers and other summer work. I hope to be back in about 2 to 3 weeks and I miss you too!! Thanks for checking on me...you are just the sweetest!:)

Hi Debbie! I really do appreciate you popping in to see me with all you've got going on at your place! Oh, yay about your floor. You may think it's all going slowly, but you're saving tons of money doing it yourself and will be so proud when it's finished. Can't wait to see it.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia :)
