Welcome April……

               DSC04050

Hello everyone! I am finally feeling better….just a wee bit….on the mend…just in time for my husband’s flu/cold to be kicking in a bit harder unfortunately! It was a nasty virus that I hope no one else gets. Spring is coming to Maine finally! It’s seems that it has been a long winter here. We are fortunate as there are many northern states that are experiencing more blizzards on top of major flooding!! These folks are in my prayers. The weather is changing in this country…..sometimes quite drastically.

With spring comes Easter and green grass and budding trees and flowers and fiddleheads and ferns and May flowers and pussy willows and the first day of fishing and yard sales and raking the yard and brush to be piled and trees to be trimmed! It’s the season where everything is brand new again! Birds are laying eggs in nests and little babies will be born and learning to fly. They will line my power line going to my house and poop all over the ground while waiting for their mom and dad to fly by with bugs and worms to feed them. The wasps and bumblebees and black flies will come out of hiding and fly right into your face on a semi-warm day. It’s as if they are not quite awake yet or acclimated to the the changing season. The world comes alive once again and winter is but a distant memory….the only reminder being a flash of white snow deep in the woods that has not melted because of lack of sunlight.

April is a month of new beginnings.DSC04059  While driving down my road the other day I noticed the familiar site of a large silver bus at the farmers house. Our local grower goes to Florida for the winter in that movie star looking road bus. He is back from his winter getaway and will soon be preparing the many acres of soil for planting. He manages one of the most beautiful acreages in this state. I will share some photos with you later on this spring. So….go forth and multiply!!….Or something like that?? Enjoy spring and I hope you all have some nice new beginnings too.:):)

Debbie, so glad to hear you are on the mend. This year, more than any I can remember, I am so ready for spring. I am ready to welcome all the things you listed.(no black flies, though) You know, it's really hard to yard sale in this little town. Our once-a-week newspaper died with the economy, so to find out if there are any yard sales, you have to drive to Hannaford's, and check out their bullitin board to see where they are. But, I'm ready, and every tiime I go food shopping, I check out that board to see if the first yard sale of the season is posted. Gotta love it! Hugs, Kathleen

Well, can't imagine anyone not being able to personally relive what you so descriptively wrote about in this blog! God love her, Kathleen does as I'm certain Christer, too!

Yes, we, too, are glad that you're feeling better but, don't think you can jump and hop like an Easter-Bunny, just yet.

We are dishearten for what Bob is going through and prayer that he will recover very soon. Prayers for both of you ... Good piece of writing, Deb! Good 'feel-good' stuff!

Love to you and Bob ... GeeGee

Hi Debbie, I'm glad you are feeling better, seems me and mine escaped it this year (fingers crossed). I still have snow on the ground, it's amazing how a few miles can be so different in Maine. My mother hasn't had snow for weeks, she is on the coast.
A male cardinal landed on my deck door, peeking in the window. I got the camera and opened it, it was ready! But he flew away when I went to frame him! Sure sign of spring though.

It's nice to hear you are up and about and enjoying this beautiful Springtime that is decending upon us. It's just beautiful here in California. I wish we had the colorful birds here that they have on the East coast.
A really nice post today, Debbie! I enjoyed it!

Glad you are feeling a bit better. Sorry to hear your husband now has it.

I'm with you, I love spring. Everything is so new and fresh.

You are SOOOO lucky to have so many old cookbooks. I found a good shop to go to buy some at a pretty good price. I love the ones from the 40's and 50's. It was such a fun time for being a housewife then. Well at least they make it seem it was. I'm sure in truth it was a hard time.

Hugs,
Joanne
