Today, for the first time in years, I walked a mile. Not only did I walk a mile, but I did it with my son. We dragged our dogs along with us. His dog Katie and my dog Obie just loved it! I am pretty proud of myself and am only a little bit sore!
For any of you that do not read my blog on a regular basis, I had a heart attack the day after Christmas. I started Cardio Rehab not long ago. I have had two educational classes and two exercise classes. Today will be my third exercise class. They are putting me on the treadmill now. I started at my last class with 1.5 and they increased me quite quickly to 2.2. After a few minutes of that, my chest felt funny and my heart felt as though It was fluttering. I got dizzy and they took me off immediately. I am hooked up to an EKG monitor so they looked to see what was up. My heart was adding an extra beat for some reason. This happens when I am nervous (since my heart attack) and now apparently when I am exercising and nervous I guess? They were not too worried and plan on watching me. We’ll see if we can get this old body into shape some how!!
I was searching around for a walking clipart to put in this post and came across an interesting woman. Here’s a link to her site…Walking ….I thought I would share it. I will be reading much more and maybe even sign up. Hope all is well with you friendly bloggers. I am not up to 100% yet but slowly getting there. My son has been here for a couple of days visiting and hubby and I have enjoyed that. He and hubby have been playing a lot of Modern Warfare II on the Xbox360. It’s been fun watching the two of them. As a matter of fact, he is sitting behind me right now playing the game and complaining about his team he is playing with online!! Apparently they are not cooperating and he’s a little ticked at them cause I am hearing some *^@# cursing going on!
He’s killing bad guys I think…..

Good for you! Walking a mile is a great accomplishment. Keep it up!
Well, you are on your way. When I first started dieting back in April, I wasn't even exercising. I couldn't even walk around the block without huffing and puffing and being exhausted. I am doing 3.2 MPH on the treadmill now, at times with an inlcine of 2.5. If I can do this, anyone can.....just don't do it all in one day. Congrats on your mile! Bet Obie had a better time than you, though. Luv ya my friend...keep at it! Hugs, Kathleen
Hi Debbie, A couple years back the dr found a extra beat in my heart and sometimes it does that fluttering like you wrote about. Feels so awful, almost as if it will break out like aliens in that movie with S Weaver! Tell me it's nothing to worry about.
Good for you walking a mile! And with it being sooo cold. It will help with Obie's diabetes too and I'll bet he can't wait til spring, see some of those chatty squirrels while walking!
Eva:...Thanks! I actually just measured it with my car and it is a mile and a tenth...I must take credit for every bit of it don't ya know!!
Evansmom:...I appreciate the encouragement...thanks!
Kathleen: Well you just described me not that long ago my friend! What a wonderful reminder....especially when I am craving a cigarette...yup...that has come back too from time to time but I tell myself I am a non smoker now. Oh Kathleen!! 3.2 on the treadmill is fabulous!! I am so proud of you!! Keep up the good work honey!
Dawn:....Boy is that good to know about the extra heartbeat! I have been so worried about it...it feels like my heart is going to jump right out of my chest. Thanks so much.
HI Debbie! Oh, I'm so proud of you! A mile - that's a lot! How nice of your son and pups to go along. You keep on taking care of yourself. Sorry you've had to go through all of this. They say walking is just one of the best exercises. I have an exercise bike sitting right behind me, but...shame of me!
I know nothing about these new games but what I see on TV they look so real!
Happy Valentine's Day to you and yours, Debbie. Now are you trying to flirt with Mr. Precious? :) He'd flirt right back! :)
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Sheila:.....Oh you are so sweet my friend! Thanks for popping in. I hope you and Mr. P. are having a wonderful V-Day!
