We have been sick over here on the plains for a few days. My husband was hit with it much worse than I. He is now recovering and feeling more like himself, thank God. He got it pretty good and there were moments when I suggested we go to the hospital but he did not want to do that. I didn’t hear any “oinking” so I am pretty sure it wasn’t the Swine, although there are several cases of it here in Maine. There are 5 that are quite close by, one being diagnosed just yesterday.
It has been raining for a few days and kind of dismal. Today it is so nice to see the sun again for however long it may last. Mother’s Day is upon us and I am not sure what I am doing at this point. My plans were to go into Portland and my kids were taking me out to breakfast. Now, they may be coming out here to visit. Either way, it is important for me to see them that day and that’s all that matters I guess. It’ll be fun.
The other night, as we were pulling into our driveway, something caught my eye, from across the plains in our back yard. My first thought was that it was a forest fire, and then I realized it was a beautiful sunset. It lit up the horizon with many beautiful colors, it was spectacular! I ran inside and snapped some photos. For some reason they came out quite blurry but you get the idea. Either we need a new camera or a new camera person!
The sun was setting so I had to snap fast.
The colors were beyond what I have seen in my backyard before. I could not stop looking at it. Amazing.
It’s like something you expect to see in Hawaii. Then ,as I was walking back to the house I looked to the south and caught another beautiful sight….a gorgeous moon peeking through the bluest clouds. Again, my pictures are not that good and are blurry for some reason?
And then it began to get dark enough so I could not see much and I tried to snap a couple more…..
No, that moon is not taking off….that is me apparently not being able to steady the camera! The difference in the darkness of the blue sky is dramatic in just those few minutes between pictures. Now I cannot look at a sky like that and not believe that there is a power greater than me at work here. What a work of art that is!

I think your pics are great. It's such a treat when you get to see something so pretty.
We have been sick around here too...not sure if it's the flu or what but we all have the same symptoms. Nausia but no throwing up, headache, tired, chills but no fevers. Weird but after about five days it seems to pass. I am worried about my mom with her heart issues and only one lung.
Oh Debbie, what a gorgeous sunset. Just beautiful. Glad to hear your husband is on the mend. I knwo a lot of people who have had this sickness, but so far no one here has come down with it. The sky here is just clearing up. So much rain...nice to see the sun poking through now. I hope you have a wonderful Mother's day. I don't have any kids, but my step-daughter did send me flowers. If I had a chance to tell your kids, or any mother's kids something, it would be.."Enjoy your Mom while you can, cause once she is gone, you will want her every minute of every day". Enjoy the sun! hugs, Kathleen
Hi Debbie, Got to love Maine and all it offers, beautiful sunset. Powers that are greater than us, for sure. I'm glad you all are feeling better, these days I'm fearful of anyone who sneezes openly. Don't they know that's a private thing? Have a happy Mother's Day.
Beautiful pictures, it doesn´t matter if they are a bit blurry. The colours are magnificent!
The reason they come out blurry is that the camera needs more time to get the light it needs to take the picture, so it´s alomst impossible to get them blurr free if one doesn´t have a support of some kind for the hands.
Christer.
Amen. I'm so glad you're feeling better and hope you're back to 100% soon. Hugs!
Hi Debbie...I hope you are over this and back feeling like your old selves very soon. If we saw something like that in the distance here in California, we would be calling the Fire Department. Our beautiful Santa Barbara is on fire as we speak.
Your photo's are beautiful, blurry or not.
~smiles~

Hope you are both feeling better soon..beautiful sunset colors...the moon is very difficult to photograph without a tripod..or something to set your camera on:)
Peggy: Wow! That sounds just like our flu/cold that we had! Thanks for the comment and I hope your mom does not get this either. It was a strange flu wasn't it? This was round two for us in less than two months and we are "sick" of it!
Kathleen:Thanks my friend. We are on the mend finally and glad you did not get it! Oh Kathleen I almost burst into tears when I read what you wrote at the end about moms.:( I miss my mom so much and wish she was here. Glad to know someone else understands that. Happy mothers day to you.
Dawn: Thanks and you and Kathleen know how beautiful it is here in Maine! I agree with you about the sneezing. I won't even shake someones hand when I am sick. We now carry a squeeze bottle of hand sanitizer with us! Happy moms day!
Christer: Thanks so much. Coming from you that is a huge compliment as your photos are wonderful and the info on the camera shots make huge sense!
SMB: We are doing well now...thanks for checking in my friend.
WspSwly: Thanks Mona and we are much better. I am so sorry about Santa Barbara! I am now watching the news about it and see it has subsided...thank God!
Woody: Thanks! We'll see you in a little while and we are better!
GeeGee: Leave it to you to describe my blurry pictures with such grace! See you too in a little while...Happy Mom's Day to my second mom!
FSOF: Thanks so much and I am now figuring that out about the tripod! I will have to upgrade my camera and get a tripod with it someday! Happy mothers day to you!
Hi Debbie! I think God was giving you an early Mother's Day gift with that gorgeous sunset! Happy Mother's Day to you and hope it was wonderful!
